Busy Moms

Busy moms...does that sound redundant? *laugh*

Busy moms balance the world on their shoulders while juggling children, jobs, homes, significant others, commutes, health concerns, deadlines, and relationships…all while trying to maintain or find a sense of personal identity and fulfillment.

Whew!

Being a mom is hard work and often creates a lot of new challenges that we didn’t expect and sometimes that we can’t always explain!

You've been really helpful. You listen but you also give me guidance. I need that right now. -- Robin Rogers, New York, NY

Being A Good Mother

Many busy moms struggle to find the balance between being a super mom and nurturing themselves. The trick to feeling centered is to be content with being a good mother. Good mothers understand that they make mistakes, they can't deliver 100% to everyone all of the time, and that they are doing the best they can with what they have.

Families come in all shapes and sizes and sometimes our family doesn’t end up looking like we pictured it would. Learning how to manage as the mother in a blended family can be difficult and may leave you feeling out of place and like you're not able to be the mother you'd like to be.

Sometimes I find myself getting caught up in the day-to-day chores and chaos and I lose sight of the big picture. Reading a few good mother quotes can give me a much needed attitude lift. Some of these quotes are humorous, some are thought provoking, some are stirring, but all can rejuvenate your spirit and remind you of the good mother you are striving to be every day!

Work

Site Build It!

"A mother's job is never done" and isn't that the truth! Whether you work outside the home, work at home, or are a stay at home mom, your days and nights are full. For many mothers, trying to effectively juggle work and play is challenging.

Most mothers will err on the side of working and giving too much. This happens if you receive a paycheck or not. So it’s essential for busy moms to take time to replenish their inner well by doing what it takes to spend some time on you. Making sure you take care of you while still maintaining your professional and motherly duties is essential for good mental well-being.

I've spent the past few years as a work-at-home mom and totally appreciate the challenges of trying to pursue a fulfilling career while raising small children. I'll be detailing my transition soon so visit again!

Getting Help

Do you have people in your life you can turn to when you need a break? Are you feeling lonely? A strong support system is one of the most important things for any mother to have, at every stage of her motherhood. Raising children is not easy, nor is it a limited engagement, so it’s essential to feel connected and supported.

If you struggle with trying to find a balance among your many obligations and desires, taking time to figure out how to make your life more manageable and less stressful will be important.

Many moms are reluctant to ask for help. They are not used to it, feel ashamed, or don't want to be seen as failures. But when you're trying to raise your family AND keep yourself sane, it is essential to ask for and receive help from others. There are many other resources available to you in addition to your own friends and family.

A wonderful internet resource for busy moms, whether you are trying to conceive or are wrangling teenagers, is at ivillage. There you will find all sorts of useful information on parenting and taking care of yourself. Themommiesnetwork.org helps to connect local mothers through online forums and in-person get-togethers.

There are resources available for financial assistance too. Momshelp.com is a non-profit that supports mothers in need.

You can also check out some of my hand-picked self help products to help you feel validated, motivated, and inspired.

The majority of my clients who are mothers would agree that life changed dramatically once their children were born…and not always in ways that were positive or predicted. But for many moms, the topic of feeling unhappy, unfulfilled, or unsatisfied since becoming a mother feels taboo and impossible to talk about with friends or family.

I’ve found, however, that it’s essential for moms to talk about and address these issues so that they can make the needed changes to benefit themselves and their families. Let me know if this sounds like something you could use some neutral guidance and support with.
